BENJAMIN F. OLIVER
HAYES – Benjamin Franklin Oliver, 74, died Sunday, Jan. 1, in Mary Immaculate Hospital, Newport News.
He was born in Gloucester County.
He retired as quarterman from the Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown, in 1969.
He was a member of Beach Grove Baptist Church, Gloucester. He was also a member of the Sioux Tribe No. 9 Improved Order of Redmen.
Survivors include his wife, Hattie D. Oliver; one daughter, Mrs. Benjamin E. Borden of Gloucester Point; two sisters, Mrs. James M. Nuttall Jr. of Ware Neck and Mrs. Charles Grant of Arlington; one brother, Cleveland Oliver of Arlington; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Hogge Funeral Home, Gloucester Point, by the Revs. James Wright and Hammond Robbins. Burial will be in Rosewell Memorial Garden, Gloucester County.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 tonight at the funeral home.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Beach Grove Baptist Church or to a favorite charity.
