Quarkside – Governance Matters

Governance Matters

—————————-

Three quarks for Muster Mark!
Sure he has not got much of a bark
And sure any he has it’s all beside the mark.

— James Joyce, Finnegans Wake

—————————–

A quark is an elementary particle and a fundamental constituent of matter.  Proton and neutrons are both composed of three quarks – and they must have different colour.  Quarkside uses the idea of a triple to constrain ideas of information governance into just three fundamental domains:

  • Process:  What is needed?
  • Governance:  How is it controlled?
  • Technology:  How is it to be done?

Each domain is associated with people who have specialist skills and knowledge.  Each is essential, with their own language that can be misunderstood in the other domains.  Together they are more powerful.

The Quarkside strap line is “Governance Matters”.  It bring together knowledge from the other domains and aims to expose Information Governance ideas to our leaders.  This has to start at the highest level; government ministers and politicians of all colours.  They shape the landscape for services and technologists.  Government departments, local government, police, health, fire & rescue, other public sector agencies and the voluntary sector are all impacted by the governance regime.

Let’s see if we can influence policies that achieve greater co-operation.

Governance Matters

A ‘quark’ is also sound made by a duck.  It is noisy, intrusive and could be a statement or a question.  Hence the many references to quarks in Quarkside.
