Clapham, William 1907 Feb 15th Swindon
A Coroner’s jury returned a verdict of “Suicide whilst temporarily insane” in the case of William Thomas Clapham, a painter, of 64, Summers Street, who was found dead in his bedroom on Monday evening. The evidence showed that deceased, who had manifested a melancholic temperament, was discovered dead by a fellow lodger. He had twisted a rope round his neck about a dozen times, and lay on the bed with his legs hanging over the side. Death was due to strangulation. It was stated that deceased’s father committed suicide.
