An inquest was held at the Phoenix Inn on Saturday afternoon, before Mr Bernard Harfield (deputy country coroner), on the body of Harry Hodder, aged 34, who died suddenly on the previous evening while at his employment. The deceased was a baker to Messrs Teasdale and Son, Latimer-street, and it appeared that on Friday evening, about eight o’clock, when walking up the yard, he suddenly fell, and on being carried into the bakehouse he sighed twice, and expired.

Mr Ernest Cuss, assistance to Mr F Taylor, surgeon, said he was called to see the deceased shortly after eight o’clock, and from the superficial examination he had made, he believed death was caused by cerebral hemorrhage, or apoplexy. The jury were unanimous in returning a verdict in accordance with the medical testimony. The deceased was a steady, industrious man, and was greatly respected by all who knew him. He leaves a widow, for whom great sympathy is felt.
