 King, John    1902 May 30th

Mr R A Wilson, coroner for South Wilts, held an inquest at Wylye touching the death of John King, 69 years of age, who died from taking a dose of sheep dipping powder on Friday. From the evidence it appears that deceased went to work on Friday morning about 7pm, but did not return at night. A search was made and he was found in a shepherd’s hut in a dying condition. Dr Penruddocke was sent for, and deceased told the doctor he had taken a dose of sheep dipping powder. The jury returned a verdict of “Death from heart failure, accelerated by taking a dose of sheep wash.”
