Miss Sarah M Bedford, who carried on a small business in Harnham, died suddenly on Tuesday morning. It appears that about 11 o’clock, a boy, named Dawkins, went to her shop to make a purchase. While attending to him Miss Bedford suddenly fell on the floor. The boy was alarmed at the occurrence and ran for his mother, who immediately attended. A neighbour was called in and a doctor sent for, but before his arrival death had occurred.
An inquest was held at the Rose and Crown on Wednesday evening by the coroner (Mr R A Wilson).
Dr Ord stated that death was due to failure of the heart’s action, and a verdict was returned in accordance with this evidence.
